1949 Martin 000-18 Acoustic Guitar, Natural w/Hardshell Case - Used
This used 1949 Martin 000-18 is a quintessential "post-war" acoustic that has spent the last seven decades being played and loved. This guitar ideal for the musician who prioritizes the legendary, warm tone of vintage mahogany. Built during a golden era of Martin production, this 000-model features the classic combination of a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. The 000-size body offers a more comfortable, narrow-waisted feel compared to a dreadnought, while still providing surprising depth and projection. The tonewoods in this guitar have opened up during the past 77 years offering a resonance and harmonic complexity that modern recreations simply cannot replicate. This guitar has a soft "V" neck profile that feels very comfortable paired with the soft feel of the Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. This guitar is like Grandma's kitchen table, there's a reason she kept it around.
This guitar is in fair condition and would be considered player grade. The guitar has multiple scratches and nicks throughout. On these scratches it appears that some were attempted to be stained to blend in. There is finish wear throughout the guitar as well. The guitar also had the bridge reglued and shaved, a re-fret, a pick up installed and a neck reset performed at some point in the guitar's life span. (None of these repairs/modifications were performed at Russo Music). At some point when major adjustments are needed a neck reset and new saddle will be needed in the future.
