This 1966 EB-2D is a unique example of this first year instrument. Originally purchased by a local customer from Carter Vintage, this bass feels and sounds exactly how one would expect, but visually it is extremely different than any other EB-2D we've seen before. Sometime in its history this bass was professionally refinished in a Sky Blue Burst nitro finish and was bound in pearloid.

The headstock finish and original logo are still present and has some great checking on the nitro finish. Additionally, the pickguard was replaced for a reproduction pearloid guard to match the instrument. The original knobs are changed out for modern Gibsons to match the instrument better as well.

The original bridge pickup is installed in the instrument, but the neck humbucker is swapped for a Dimarzio Channel One (the original humbucker is in the case). At some point the baritone switch was removed and for easier access to the electronics a compartment was cut into the back of the body and covered with pearloid plastics. Overall, this bass is a perfect player-grade vintage piece with personality and mojo.
