2023 Martin Custom Shop Sloped Shoulder D-14 Acoustic Guitar, 1933 Ambertone w/OHSC - Used
Steeped in guitar-building heritage, the Martin Custom Shop Sloped Shoulder Dreadnought is a product of expert craftmanship and innovation. This model is inspired by a certain iconic dreadnought design, while still maintaining its unique Martin identity.
The guitar body comprises a Sitka spruce top and solid genuine mahogany back and sides. The Sitka spruce is valued for its superior stiffness-to-weight ratio, which contributes to a potent sound projection. Solid genuine mahogany imparts a visual contrast to the Spruce and affects the overall tonality. The bracing is scalloped Sitka spruce, designed in pattern 38B with a thickness of 5/16". This bracing arrangement, integral to the guitar's sound projection and stability, prioritizes balance between strength and resonance.
Traditional elements are displayed in the Old Style 18 Abalone fingerboard inlays and the Style 18 purfling. These, combined with the Old Style 18 Boltaron rosette and a Faux Tortoise pickguard, add a vintage appeal. The neck, fashioned from genuine mahogany and paired with an East Indian rosewood fingerboard, holds 20 German G300 frets. The neck profile is a Modified Low Oval with a High Performance Taper, designed for player comfort and versatility. Adorned with a Full Gloss finish, the Ambertone 1933 top enhances the guitar's aesthetics. The back and sides remain unstained, highlighting the Mahogany's natural beauty. A protective Martin Hardshell case is included with the instrument.
This Martin Custom Shop Sloped Shoulder Dreadnought is a clear representation of Martin's continuous dedication to refining the blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern guitar-making necessities. This collaborative effort with Russo Music, as a Martin Custom Shop Expert Dealer, is an homage to the rich history of acoustic guitar design and Martin's commitment to quality.
There is a small nick on the upper bout on the bass side, about the size of the tip of a pen. The pickguard shows scratching from playwear. The back shows light scratching from playwear.
