Electronic Audio Experiments Halberd V2 Discrete Transistor Overdrive Effect Pedal
Draw your steel with the Electronic Audio Experiments Halberd overdrive. This discrete transistor overdrive is pulled from the proverbial stone as an attempt to achieve the greatest possible dynamic range possible under four dials and a three-way switch. Exceling in medium and high-gain arenas, the Halberd breathes with rich harmonic registers for an all-in-one drive pedal.
The Halberd features over a dozen internal transistors that coalesce for a gain structure that lands somewhere between a driven tweed and an overloaded console. This familiar, distinctly analog drive tone makes itself right at home among many overdrive and distortion venues for players to really get into. Four setting dials – Pre, Post, Depth, and Tone – all align and interact with each other for producing warm compressions, light tube-like burns, and clipping overdrives, among many others. While Pre and Post controls adjust signal gain and output level, respectively, while Depth and Tone adjust low and high frequencies, respectively. These controls access new worlds of tone with the three-way Voice switch that affects higher midranges, central mid ranges, and the totality of the frequency ranges – moving from its upward, middle, and downward positions.
Like a newly brandished cut of iron pulled from the kiln and refined on the anvil, the Electronic Audio Experiments Halberd is a multifaceted and multidimensional drive for the next sonic battle.
