Epiphone 1963 Dove Reissue Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Natural

Birds of a feather flock together with the Epiphone 1963 Dove Reissue. Carrying on in Gibson's fine acoustic example, the Epiphone 1963 Dove Reissue sets out to capture the experience of the earliest Gibson Doves – the brand's second square-shoulder dreadnought guitar following the Hummingbird. A close cousin of the Hummingbird, today's Epiphone 1963 Dove Reissue seeks to embody all the grace and grandeur of Gibson's early-'60s Doves.

A favorite of many an acoustic guitar player even decades after its debut, the Gibson Dove is a classic in its own right among their vast flock of avians. Today's Epiphone 1963 Dove Reissue features its classic square-shoulder dreadnought body shape at square one. This square-shoulder's body comes together with a thermally aged solid spruce top and a solid figured maple back and sides. Within, a traditional X-Brace bracing pattern lines the spruce top with scalloped quartersawn solid spruce braces. This addition gives the Dove exceptional sonic balance and projection with a slightly greater bass response than its Hummingbird cousin to work in a wide range of musical scenarios.

A one-piece, thermally aged mahogany neck joins in on this Dove to extend out to a full 25.5" scale length. The neck's Rounded profile fits the hand solidly while a bound Indian rosewood fingerboard lays out. This board, fitted with twenty frets and adorned with Mother-of-Pearl split parallelogram inlays, works to inspire smooth and seamless fretting from low to high registers. Designed to achieve all the great playability the Dove and other square-shoulder Gibson acoustics are known for, this is a guitar to inspire.

Past the body and board, there's plenty to bring this Dove to even greater heights. Multi-ply top and back body binding accentuate the curvature of the dreadnought body shape. In addition to a smaller visual consideration like that, this Dove is fitted for sturdy playability with a bone nut and Kluson Waffleback tuning machines with metal Keystone buttons. These features at one end of the scale length are met at the opposite end by a Dove-style rosewood bridge. Mother-of-Pearl makes another appearance at this juncture for Dove-shaped inlays for that extra added element of Dove pizazz.

An L.R. Baggs Element Bronze VTC electronics system punches in for bringing the sounds of the Dove to the stage while the guitar's Dove-patterned pickguard acts as that final element of authenticity. This acoustic travels with an included Red Line-inspired hardshell case with Inspired by Gibson Custom graphics.

Taking notes from one of Gibson's boldest dreadnoughts, this Epiphone creation shows that after all these years, the flock still flourishes.
