Fender American Vintage II 1963 Telecaster Electric Guitar, Rosewood, Surf Green
Fenderâs American Vintage II Series is a meticulously designed collection of period-correct electric guitars and basses. Each model is carefully chosen and recreated based on its contribution to the Fender story of that year. All models feature year specific bodies, necks, hardware, finishes, and pickups. American Vintage II is the most accurate production series of legacy instruments across the timeline of Fender history.
1963 was another benchmark year for the Fender Telecaster. The Fender American Vintage II 1963 Telecaster showcases key features and details of this transitional model. Perhaps most notably different for â63 (and only available through â64) was a mahogany body for the trans red finish. Other finishes retained the Alder standard set in years prior. 1963 was also the first full year of the round laminated rosewood fingerboard, switching from flat-lam at the end of 1962. The 7.25â radius persists. Clay fingerboard dots, with narrow spacing at the 12th fret were also standard in 1963.This was the last full year for clay they would switch to pearl in late 1964. Threaded steel saddles were employed by this point as were 3 ply guards. The 1963 âCâ shaped neck profile, with the thin round lam board is quite comfortable. Pickups are Pure Vintage 1963 Tele Single Coils, with traditional bridge/both/neck 3-way selector.
Vintage style brown hardshell case with orange interior is included.
