Straight from our friends out in Cali comes this Fender Custom Shop ’58 Precision Bass Relic in a humble Aged Daphne Blue. Combining such a soft color with the Custom Shop’s Relic finish treatment, this P Bass materializes with a well-loved and worn-in aesthetic, bearing scrapes and chips across the iconic double-cutaway profile. This Precision Bass encapsulates so much of what makes the world of Fender Custom Shop such a thrill for players of all types.

This Fender Custom Shop ’58 Precision Bass Relic begins with a two-piece Custom Shop 22” bass alder body. Imparting the solid and sturdy feel in hand associated with the P Bass, the feel of this bass in hand is effortlessly authentic. This cut of alder can be seen up close and personally thanks to the Custom Shop’s Relic finish treatment, exposing some of the wood’s natural grain through tasteful chips and scrapes across the aged lacquer finish.

The doublecut alder is matched with a quartersawn maple neck shaped in a 60 P-Bass Oval “C” profile to form the basis of this guitar’s experience in hand. With a full feel in hand when moving from lower to higher registers, this Oval neck profile contributes greatly to the smooth playing experience of this P Bass. The quartersawn maple of the neck fills out to a fingerboard bearing twenty frets outfitted with 6150 Medium Jumbo fret wire. Measuring with a radius of 7.25”, the board is smooth across the fingers and plays with a vintage-style feel. Micarta Black .250 face dots punctuate the bright maple while 3/32” Micarta Black side dots accompany. This FCS bass bears a Regular P Bass style headstock with Vintage Bass Nickel Relic tuning machines for steady intonation. Overall, the neck measures .790” thick at the first fret and .990” at the twelfth and exposes some of its unique grain through an unfinished Relic neck back.

Sonically, this Custom Shop piece comes to life with the addition of a hand-wound 57 P Bass split single-coil pickup. This lone single-coil summons all the great, thumping tone associated with the instrument, perfect for plucking along with some distinct vintage style brought onboard by a pickup and bridge cover. This pair of covers matches with this Custom Shop’s unique gold pickguard, adorned with a Relic finish treatment of its own. Further additions to this FCS P Bass enhance the total experience of the instrument. Such additions include a Relic P/J Bass bridge landing at one end of this bass and a bone nut landing at the other. This Precision Bass ships with a Fender Custom Shop Tweed P Bass hardshell case.
