Fender Custom Shop Dual Mag II Stratocaster Journeyman, Aged Black w/Matching Headcap
This Fender Custom Shop Dual Mag II Stratocaster checks all the Custom Shop boxes: unique pickups, a gorgeous finish, premium wood choices, and vintage-inspired specs.
Cut from select Alder that's been sorted to ensure an optimally light guitar, the body contours of this Strat follows that of the 1960 version of the same instrument, a pre-CBS buyout gem. Attached to its body with a Custom Shop, 4-bolt neck plate featuring a vintage Fender logo and the instrument's serial number, a quarter-sawn neck is one of the highlights of this guitar. The neck is heat treated, a process that removes impurities from the wood and makes for a more seasonally stable wood. Atop the neck, a headstock with a "small" profile, and a '60-style headscoop, measures at 0.575 inches thick.
On the neck, a AAA Rosewood fingerboard is once again sorted by the FCS, except this time for its appearance and dark color. This gorgeous, dark fingerboard boasts a compound radius of 9.50" to 12" and is topped with vintage clay dot inlays, spaced widely. 21 Jumbo frets divide the flat-lam fingerboard.
The star of this FCS show, however, are its trio of Fender Custom Shop Handwired Dual Mag II Strat pickups, relic'd to match the guitar's appearance and wound to be specifically voiced for their positions, delivering a vintage-inspired tone that only Fender could achieve. These pickups utilize two types of magnets, hence their name: one magnet type gives a punchy sound to the bass strings, while the other mellows out the brightness of the treble strings. This combination results in a well-balanced tone with a consistent volume. The middle pickup features a reverse wiring scheme, as well as flipped phase, and the controls of this Strat include 1/2 Blender for mixing pickup sounds, and 250k 10% taper split pots for dialing in the sound.
A FCS Journeyman relic treatment has been applied to this Strat, with some small signs of wear to emulate an instrument that's been gigged with lightly since its birth in the '60s. This guitar comes with a Fender Custom Shop hard case.
