Fender Limited Edition American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster Electric Guitar, Black

Throwing it back to some of the central tenets that made the model first stand out, we have this Fender Limited Edition American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster. In a limited release, an authentic representation of Fender's original stab at the jazz guitar market is up for grabs with a never-before-seen finish color in the American Vintage II series and all the great foundational elements that launched the model's ship. The Jazzmaster, a classic in any and every generation, gets the red (or black?) carpet treatment with this Fender Special Run model.

The Fender Jazzmaster first hit the market in the late 1950s as an attempt to sway the ever-stubborn jazz guitar community away from their standard hollow- and semi-hollow models into Fender's loving solidbody arms. While the effort proved successful with the Jazzmaster's futuristic and comfortably-contoured electronics and body, the model eventually fell into the arms of the prevalent surf and rock crowds and later into punk and indie circles. Today's American Vintage II series 1966 Jazzmaster punches in with many of the foundational elements that made original Jazzmasters so alluring.

This limited edition American Vintage II Jazzmaster begins with an alder body wrapped in an FSR black gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Fitted with the sleek contours that first made the Jazzmaster a hit, this body is effortlessly handled and carried across a stage. Reaching out, a AAA flame maple neck takes its place in a slim 1966 "C" profile. This neck, differing from the usual American Vintage II's standard maple, features a bolder color with more pronounced grain patterns. The flame maple of the neck then matches with a bound round-laminated rosewood fingerboard bearing twenty-one Medium Jumbo frets. These frets offer space and articulation along with vintage-style pearloid block inlays and a more modern 9.5" fingerboard radius.

For its voice, this FSR Jazzmaster loads in two showstoppers. Two Fender Custom Shop Fat '60s Single-Coil Jazzmaster pickups line up in your usual Jazzmaster SS configuration with your classic Jazzmaster Lead/Rhythm wiring scheme. Bumping up with an elevated single-coil tone with the Custom Shop's artistic eye and careful construction, these pickups play with a robust, lush, and vivacious '60s-style tone any offset fan is sure to swoon over. These pickups are backed up with sturdy hardware specifications like a bone nut, Fender Pure Vintage single-line tuning machines, and a Pure Vintage Jazzmaster bridge with threaded steel barrel saddles and a floating tremolo tailpiece with a lock button. This FSR model travels with an included Fender black tweed hardshell case.
