Fender Palomino Vintage Acoustic-Electric, Ovangkol Fingerboard, Aged Natural w/ Case
The Fender Palomino Vintage Acoustic is a nostalgic nod to the 1960s - a time with Leo Fender still at the helm of his namesake, creating revolutionary new guitars inspired by the pop, surf, and counter-cultural movements of the era.
The Fender Palomino was originally introduced in 1968, and was designed in collaboration with German luthier Roger Rossmeisl, who was also known for his work in developing guitars for Rickenbacker. The Palomino had a short lived original run, with its production halted in 1970 along with the eventual dissolving of Fender's acoustic line.
Over the years since its discontinuation, original Palominos took on a love it or hate it reputation among vintage enthusiasts and collectors. Today, the Palomino is available as a new offering from Fender once again, this time as a true Dovetail neck joint construction as opposed to the unique-albeit-wonky bolt neck build of its original brother.
Beginning with the body, the Fender Palomino Vintage features a solid Spruce top and Ovangkol back and sides. It's Okoume neck sports a Modern "V" profile, Ovangkol fingerboard with 20 frets and 16" radius, Pearloid block inlays, and period-correct Tilt-Back Vintage Palomino peghead with Fender Vintage Style tuners.
The Fender Palomino Vintage is loaded from the factory with a Fishman Sonitone Plus electronics package. The Sonitone Plus features an undersaddle piezo pickup and internal body transducer. Controls for volume and blend between the two pickups are located inside the body at the top of the sound hole.
The Fender Palomino Vintage also ships in a vintage-style Fender hardshell case.
Perhaps finally receiving its just desserts, the once dubbed "Broomstick" Fender Palomino is available again, made stronger and of more sustainable materials, with a Cali spirit at heart and only the best vibrations.
