Gibson slope shoulder acousticsĀ have been player-favorites since their inception. Full bodied, well balanced, and easily playable, they are built by guitaristsĀ with guitarists in mind.Ā The most famousĀ of them, the J-45, traditionally constructed with aĀ spruce top and mahogany back and sides, hasĀ seen countless reiterations of itself over the past 80 years.Ā Commonly referred to as āThe Workhorse,ā itĀ has the ability toĀ cover aĀ vast range of musical genres and playing styles.Ā We are fortunate enough to have scored one of these special reiterations.Ā ThisĀ GibsonĀ CustomĀ Limited EditionĀ J-45 in aĀ Honeyburst finish featuresĀ perfectly matched, beautifully decorative Koa back and sides.Ā And rather than an Adirondack or Sitka spruce top found on the majority of J-45's,Ā we have Englemann spruceĀ on this specimen. The combination of theseĀ two toneĀ woods make for aĀ unique result, whileĀ still keepingĀ the familiarity of the J-45's sound intact. The Englemann naturally has a more āworn-inā tone than other spruces, and paired with the brighter sounding Koa, you end up withĀ finely tuned, warming sonic experience.Ā If its performance werenāt enough to blow you away, we should mention itās aĀ looker, too. You can spot a hint of bear claw figure on the top,Ā approaching the stunning rosette.Ā The slotted diamond inlaysĀ complimentĀ the silky rosewoodĀ fingerboard, andĀ are brought out by the abalone scriptĀ headstock logo above them. All in all, another masterful work of Gibson Custom playable art.
