Gibson Custom Shop 1955 J-45 Light Aged Acoustic Guitar, Vintage Sunburst

Throwing it over to one of history's most celebrated acoustics, we have the Gibson Custom Shop 1955 J-45 Light Aged. This model, designed to capture the essence of one of Gibson's standby acoustic guitar models, assumes an authoritative and formidable presence for the players of today to get in on decades of fine acoustic craftsmanship.

The Gibson Custom model we have for us today takes on a pretty respected reputation. The J-45 is Gibson's best-selling acoustic guitar model. Its solid tonal foundation, expert craftsmanship, and no-nonsense presentation made it a classic for players for generations. Focusing in on one year in particular, 1955, this model welcomes a twentieth fret, as Gibson originally did in that year. Today's 1955 J-45 Light Aged is handcrafted in Gibson's Bozeman, Montana acoustic guitar factory by Gibson's expert luthiers.

This Gibson Custom Shop 1955 J-45 Light Aged begins with a classic dreadnought body shape brought together by thermally aged Sitka spruce and mahogany. Matching the crispness of the Sitka with the bassy response of the mahogany, the 1955 J-45 Light Aged is an authentic image of Gibson's acoustic voice. The model's Sitka spruce top is subjected to a heat treatment process wherein the wood is artificially aged to deliver on a more lived-in tonal quality usually reserved for much older guitars. A traditional scalloped X-bracing pattern lines the Sitka top for added dynamics, balance, and projection.

At this point, this Gibson Custom model welcomes a mahogany neck in a Round profile. Brought together by a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint with hide glue, the neck is solidly connected for an authentic playing experience. The neck is then joined by a rosewood fingerboard bearing twenty Standard-sized frets and simple yet elegant Mother of Pearl dot inlays.

Simple yet refined hardware specifications and appointments can be found across this guitar, all adding up to a solid, rich, and reliable sum. Multi-ply top and single-ply back body binding appears along the curvature of the dreadnought body for that refined geometric motif. A bone nut, saddle, and bridge pins ground strings stably alongside a rosewood traditional belly-up bridge and Grover Strap tuning machines with cream buttons.

Bringing it all together, the Gibson Custom Shop wraps up this 1955 J-45 with one last treat. Across the entire model, a Light Aged finish treatment courtesy of the Gibson Custom Shop's Murphy Lab division can be found, elevating the entire guitar to a new level. This Gibson Custom Shop model travels with an included Lifton hardshell case.

As one of the Gibson greats, the J-45 lives on in this prestigious Gibson Custom Shop model for players of today to take up and create with.
