Built with premium materials in Bozeman, Montana, the Hummingbird is constructed from a solid Sitka spruce top combined with solid mahogany back and sides. Traditional scalloped x-style bracing supports the body, producing a warm, balanced tone suitable for diverse musical styles. The body's reduced thickness compared to a standard Hummingbird yields a tighter bass response and enhanced comfort during extended playing sessions. The fit and finish are enhanced by single ply cream binding across the top and back, along with the signature hummingbird pickguard.
Affixed to the body using hot hide glue and a compound neck-to-body joint, a utile neck featuring a Rounded profile delivers a traditional playing feel. The 12-inch radius rosewood fingerboard displays pearloid parallelogram inlays, a signature visual element of the Hummingbird. Strings mount on a traditional belly-up bridge and are topped with TUSQ bridge pins before reaching the open-book headstock equipped with Grover Rotomatic tuning machines.
