Gibson LG-2 '50s Original Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Vintage Sunburst

Throwing us back to the Banner Year of 1942, we've got the Gibson LG-2 '50s Original in a warm Vintage Sunburst! One of the brand's most beloved small-body acoustics, the LG-2 rises up with this American-made revival with plenty of exciting spins all along the way. '50s-inspired and full of surprises, this LG-2 has big shoes to fill – and fill them it does!

Gibson's 1942 brought on a number of enormously influential models. From the J-45 to the Southern Jumbo, the year launched many of the brand's flagship guitars, among them, the successor to the L-00, the LG-2. The LG-2 went on to have a successful run of its own into the next decade where, today, original 1950s-made models have garnered a coveted status. Today's LG-2 '50s Original takes a refreshed but authentic look at these 1950s models for an exhilarating new acoustic.

Hearkening back, the LG-2 '50s Original features a small-bodied LG-2 shape brought together by solid Sitka spruce and solid mahogany. This classic combo of tonewoods balances the richness and woodiness of mahogany with the top-end chirp of Sitka spruce. Traditional scalloped X-Bracing lines the top for enhanced projection and articulation while three-ply top and single-ply back binding rounds its edges for a geometric accent.

Meeting its body, the LG-2 '50s Original brings on a mahogany neck with compound dovetail joint assembly with hot hide glue adhesive. The mahogany assumes a Rounded profile as it reaches from lower to higher registers. From here, an unbound rosewood fingerboard lands with twenty frets and Mother of Pearl inlays for a smooth feel on the fingers. This playing experience matches comfort in the palm and on the fingertips for a musical experience endlessly inspiring.

These elements for playability are backed up by a sturdy set of hardware specifications. At either end of the scale, a bone saddle and bone nut land for a solid connection of motion from string to body. Past the bone nut, the LG-2 '50s Original's headstock is lined with Grover Strap tuning machines with cream buttons. Ensuring smooth stringing and tuning, these tuners are balanced out by a rosewood bridge in a sloped rectangle shape with TUSQ bridge pins. L.R. Baggs VTC electronics come equipped with the LG-2 '50s Original with soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls for bringing its sweet sounds anywhere and everywhere. This Gibson LG-2 '50s Original travels with an included hardshell case.

Flying the banner once again, the LG-2 '50s Original is a classic in its time – and anytime else, for that matter!
