Gibson LG-2 All Mahogany Faded Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Natural
A "Banner" era guitar that continues flying it, we have the Gibson LG-2 All Mahogany Faded. This small-bodied, player-friendly Gibson acoustic wraps up generations of Gibson excellence as it throws back to the Banner year of 1942. An all-mahogany build makes this compact companion an undeniable dream for Gibson fans of all generations and players of all stripes.
1942 was a pretty big year for Gibson (and later, Gibson collectors). With the introduction of LG-2, Gibson summoned a smaller-scaled acoustic made of mahogany and a red spruce top. Wartime material shortages meant substitutions occurred frequently, resulting in all sorts of Gibson guitars with all types of tonewood combinations. Today's LG-2 All Mahogany Faded embodies, well, just that, an all-mahogany body and neck build perfect for any type of music. This build matches with a number of fine Gibson specifications resulting in one knockout of an instrument.
As alluded to, the Gibson LG-2 All Mahogany Faded comes together with a Gibson LG-2 body made entirely of mahogany. Solid mahogany constitutes its back, sides, and top. An understated black binding wraps the edges of this LG-2's body while a traditional, scalloped X-bracing pattern lines the top for that all-important boost in projection. The body is decked in a classy faded natural finish that lets the beauty of the mahogany grain through for a simple but rich aesthetic.
The LG-2 welcomes a mahogany neck shaped in a Rounded profile with a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint. Smoothly playable, this neck pairs up with an unbound rosewood fingerboard lined with twenty Standard frets and punctuated with humble Mother of Pearl dot inlays. Playability is compounded by the LG-2's hardware setup which includes a sloped, rectangular, closed-slot bridge made of rosewood. The bridge is fitted with a bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins while, at the opposite end of the scale, Grover Strap tuning machines and a bone nut meet at the headstock for streamlined tuning and string changes. An L.R. Baggs VTC under-saddle transducer pickup lands with this LG-2 to meet the performance needs of modern players. This Gibson LG-2 All Mahogany travels with an included Gibson hardshell case.
A small-scaled compadre to meet you on your musical mission wherever it lands – on the stage or the couch – the LG-2 All Mahogany Faded is an exceptionally friendly entry to the Gibson Acoustic canon.
