Built using the classic Talman body design, the bass is crafted from a poplar body with an ash top and is finished in Cosmic Blue Starburst. A roasted maple neck is joined to the body using 4-bolts and it topped with a bound rosewood fingerboard, 20 medium frets, and arcylic block inlay markers. The TMB4 neck shape paired with the 34-inch scale length make the TMB400TACBS incredibly easy to play.

The body features a P/J pickup configuration with a Dynamix P in the neck and Dynamix J in the bridge position. Tone can be shaped further with the 2-band EQ control set.
