Iris Guitar Company OG Acoustic Guitar, Adirondack Spruce/Mahogany, Distressed Natural
The OG from Iris Guitar Company is a stripped-down, old-soul acoustic designed and built in Vermont with a clear-eyed sense of purpose: make a reliable, great-playing guitar that does the job without unnecessary frills. As the first model introduced by Iris, the OG has served as the foundation for the company’s lineup, combining mid-century Americana inspiration with modern craftsmanship. It’s a compact and comfortable body shape with enough punch to handle flatpicking, enough response for fingerstyle, and the kind of aesthetic minimalism that says "yes, I’m here to work."
The OG’s body pairs a solid Adirondack spruce top with mahogany back and sides. The woods are selected for build quality rather than cosmetic perfection, reinforcing the utilitarian vibe that runs through the instrument. Bracing scalloped Adirondack spruce, hand-voiced in-house, giving the box a responsive top plate without over-engineering the internal structure. Binding and pickguard come in tortoise for a touch of throwback class, and the body is finished in open-pore satin nitro with a bit of tasteful finish distressing.
A C-profile neck carved from solid mahogany joins the body at the 12th fret, offering a vintage-style geometry and playing experience. The Indian rosewood fingerboard is slightly curved to a 16" radius and sports 19 frets marked by simple plastic dot inlays. Open-back brass tuners with cream buttons continue the vintage aesthetic while offering smooth and reliable functionality. The bridge is a straightforward rosewood bar design, set up with a compensated saddle and string spacing of 2 7/32".
There are no electronics—just wood, glue, and hardware done right. The OG includes a hardshell TKL case and, like every Iris, is made in small batches by a tight-knit crew of builders. It’s an honest guitar built by people who actually play them.
