JAM Pedals Rattler Mk.2 Distortion Effect Pedal
As one of the brand's most celebrated circuits, we have the JAM Pedals Rattler Mk.2 Distortion. The Rattler, an op-amp distortion in the style of one particularly famous – and particularly dirty – rodent, rears its ugly head with an expanded control scheme and a delightfully cantankerous drive tone for a modern-minded dirt box.
The Rattler Mk.2 distortion builds upon their celebrated distortion device. Built up from a custom-designed, proprietary op-amp inspired by coveted LM308 chips, the Rattler Mk.2 produces a robust, rodent-style distortion that preserves the wide, dynamic, and tube-like feel of the Rattler's original version. The Rattler Mk.2 from there goes forward with an expanded control setup with evolved tonal capabilities.
With this second version, JAM went ahead to build upon the distorted tone and playability of the Rattler. In contrast to the first Rattler, Mk.2 features a two-way switch that offers an additional symmetrical option that differs from the Mk.1's original asymmetrical clipping. These two clipping options widen the spectrum of distorted sounds to fit with any number of guitars or amps. From here, the Rattler Mk.2 introduces its new second footswitch that engages a helpful mid-boost circuit. Breaking the mold for your usual rodent-style distortion, the Rattler Mk.2 is adaptable and playable in every scenario.
Internally, the Rattler offers more controls with a trimmer for adjusting the level of its output boost and a dip switch that adds in its low frequencies cut from the Rattler's default mid-boost circuit. True bypass footswitching and standard nine-volt DC center negative power operation make the Rattler Mk.2 effortlessly compatible into any rig.
When it comes to "rodents" – when you see one, there's a thousand. Luckily, this is a pest you won't want to get rid of.
