JHS founder Josh Scott is an unapologetic Boss nerd and fanboy. His company started by way of modifying a Boss Blues Driver, and he often cites Boss as an influence in his designs. The Clover is a faithful recreation of the rare Boss FA-1 preamp. The original Boss design was battery powered and featured controls for volume, bass, and treble only. JHS takes that design and adds mods and features all the while tributing the original FA-1 in knob style and similar pastel green finish. The Clover features three modes of EQ operation, with the “No Mid” position being a direct recreation of the Boss preamp. It can be used to boost input signal, but also can function as a solo boost for your rig at the end of a pedal chain. Acoustic guitarists and bassists will certainly enjoy the additional XLR out – with ground lift - to split signal to stage rig and front of house. The Clover is a fantastic tone shaping tool for any player’s rig.
