Marshall JTM45 2245 Vintage Reissue Guitar Amplifier Head, 30 W
The Marshall JTM45 2245 Vintage Reissue head is a modern recreation of the amplifier that started it all—the original 1962 JTM45. Faithfully reproduced to vintage specifications, this 30-watt head runs on a pair of 5881 output tubes with a GZ34 rectifier and a traditional 2-channel layout that embodies the early British blues-rock sound. Designed before the high-gain arms race of the late ‘60s and ‘70s, the JTM45 delivers dynamic, harmonically rich tones that respond closely to the player’s technique and instrument.
Its preamp section is powered by two ECC83 tubes plus one ECC83 acting as a phase splitter, driving the power stage with classic character and organic breakup at usable volume levels. The dual-channel design includes a high-treble channel (Loudness I) and a normal channel (Loudness II), both accessible through independent inputs. These channels can be bridged using a patch cable, allowing the user to blend the bright, biting top end of channel one with the rounder, warmer tone of channel two. Tonal shaping is a snap with the amp's flexible EQ section.
With its selectable impedance outputs (16Ω, 8Ω, 4Ω), the JTM45 head can be paired with a wide range of cabinets, including the iconic 4x12 configurations Marshall is known for. There are no digital frills here—just the authentic, touch-sensitive response and vintage compression of an all-tube amp built the old-school way. If you're after the articulate clarity and muscular midrange that defined early British rock tones, the 2245 delivers!
