Martin Custom Shop D-14 Fret Dreadnought, Engelmann Spruce Top, Alaskan Cedar Back And Sides

Martin Custom Shop D-14 Fret Dreadnought, Engelmann Spruce Top, Alaskan Cedar Back And Sides
From the fine folks at the Martin Custom Shop comes this blonde bombshell pairing premium grade Engelmann Spruce with Alaskan Cedar. The 14 fret dreadnought packs just the right amount of detail in all the right places while the no-toner, no-fill, no-stain finish let’s the true color of the wood shine through. The almost snow-white Engelmann top is wrapped in an East Indian Rosewood Binding with an 18-style rosette and a tortoise guard. The same rosewood binding continues around the ever-so-slightly-yellow Alaskan Cedar back. The back seam is covered with the HD (Zig Zag) center purfling with an additional 18 strip on each side. The same Alaskan Cedar is used to construct the two-piece neck, with an additional center stringer made from dark East Indian Rosewood. Gold, open-gear, butterbean tuning machines and green abalone Old 18 Style dots are really the only flash of color on this Custom. Rosewood compliment continues on the headstock with a dark E.I.R. overlay with an Old-Style Silver Martin decal. This dread is loud and has an extremely high-volume cap. Great for big strums but it does respond to lighter fingerstyle quite well. Tone is on the brighter side, to be expected from the Alaskan Cedar back, but the big body helps maintain the low end you’d want from a Dreadnought.
This Martin Custom Shop ships with a 5-Ply cabernet interior hardshell case. Build sheet available upon request.
