Martin GPC-16E Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Spruce/East Indian Rosewood Satin w/Case
As part of Martin's distinguished 16 Series, the Martin GPC-16E acoustic-electric guitar drops in with a refined tone and timeless Martin playability. This guitar, handcrafted in Martin's very own Nazareth, Pennsylvania factory, offers a unique feel and sound compounded with classic specifications to add up to an overall striking instrument.
The GPC-16E is a unique instrument among Martin's catalog. Combining elements of Grand Performance and Auditorium guitars, the GPC-16E matches the body shape of a Grand Performance with the body depth of an Auditorium (000) model. This balance of elements makes the GPC-16E an authoritative voice in acoustics with balance and bass response while retaining the comfort of its smaller-scaled brethren. A satin finish wraps this body for a close, silky touch.
With a comfortable body shape, the GPC-16E comes together with a top made of spruce and a pair of back and sides made of East Indian rosewood for a warm and balanced voice. This balance is enhanced through Martin's scalloped, forward-shifted X brace bracing pattern that stabilizes the sound and bolsters projection.
From here, the GPC-16E includes a select hardwood neck shaped in a Modified Low Oval profile with a High Performance Taper and a satin finish for easy grips and quick maneuvers up and down its length. Matched with an ebony fingerboard adorned with twenty frets, this Martin plays with speed, comfort, and articulation for campfire chord strumming to quick fingerpicking.
The experience of the GPC-16E carries on with a number of fine hardware specifications that really tie the instrument together. Nickel Open Gear tuning machines pair with a bone nut as they align the solid square-tapered headstock. Assisting in stability and easy string changes alongside a Modern Belly ebony bridge with a drop-in compensated White Tusq saddle, these hardware choices bring together the smaller strengths of Martin to add up to a more complete whole.
Stylistically, this Martin shows off with Antique White binding and a multi-stripe top inlay. A Bold Herringbone with multi-stripe rosette circles the soundhole while Style 28 Mother of Pearl inlays punctuate the fingerboard's ebony. All of these stylistic additions are complemented by a high-fidelity electronics setup of Martin E1 electronics that brings the sweet, acoustic sounds of this guitar to the stage seamlessly. What's more, this Martin travels with an included softshell case that makes trips from place to place with this guitar effortless.
