MXR EVH Modern High Gain Distortion Effect Pedal
Let the riffs erupt with the MXR EVH Modern High Gain Distortion! This signature EVH distortion, designed in collaboration with the man himself in 2015, now brings the hot, searing, punishing high-gain drive tones of everyone's favorite distortion daredevil to any and every rig. A built-out, deep control interface with plenty of crushing, saturated tone under the hood makes this Modern High Gain distortion live well up to its namesake for the kind of '80s riffs as big as the '80s hair.
In direct collaboration with Eddie Van Halen in 2015, the Modern High Gain distortion follows up on a legacy of Van Halen-style drives and distortions, with this one being a labor of love from Eddie himself. The central experience of the EVH Modern High Gain plays faithfully to other MXR distortions with a punched up, amp-like distorted quality at its center for cutting quickly to the chase. This thick, punchy distortion serves as a flame strong enough to ignite your whole rig from the ground up.
From here, the "Modern" in "Modern High Gain" kicks in with a deep control experience to bring Eddie's '80s volcanic drive tone into the twenty-first century. Independent controls for Gain and Output allow for fine finessing of the pedal's distorted character and its overall volume – roll back Gain for a little more cleanliness in your playing or punch it up for the kind of beefy, gnarly tone needed to break the mold.
A three-band EQ section shapes the distortion for spiky highs for articulation, thunderous lows for shaking the stage, or even scooped mids for a pseudo-fuzz effect. An onboard Boost switch opens up a higher level of gain structuring while a Noise Gate with a control dial allows for closer handling of your noise cancelling. Standard nine-volt power supplies or nine-volt batteries bring this Van Halen creation to life seamlessly.
Those Van Halen boys never seem to quit, huh? High Gain? What's next? Modern High Gain?
