Orange Amps OR30 30-Watt Tube Guitar Amplifier Head, Orange
The lads from across the pond are back with a brand new beast! Yes, the Orange Amps OR30 30-Watt Tube Head is here and proudly built in the United Kingdom. Over the years, OR series amps from Orange have been favored by players around the globe who would rather leave out channel switching and cater to a simpler, single channel platform ideal for keeping a minimalist rig or running as a pedal platform. The OR30 follows in the single channel layout, but with new features not seen on an OR series amp before it, and in some cases not on an Orange amp entirely.
Visually, the OR30 totes Orangeâs classic âPics Onlyâ graphic complement - save for the power and standby switches. Starting leftmost is a feature new to the OR30, the Cross Line Presence control, which alters high end in the power section. Moving to the right, the OR30 features two volume controls, which can be toggled by way of a single button footswitch (sold separately). The OR30 also features a classic 3-band EQ, and a three-way Bright switch, a debut feature.
On the back, the OR30 features a tube-driven effects loop, furthering its flexibility as a single channel amp. Traditionalists may favor their delays and reverbs running in the effects loop, and if youâre a player somewhat in the digital realm, the OR30 can run your preferred multi-effects/modelers via 4-cable method.
Also on the back panel of the OR30 is a two-way âHeadroom/Bedroomâ power scaling switch, which allows the player to run at full 30w (Headroom) or 2w (Bedroom).
A quartet of EL84 power tubes deliver unmistakable Class A British crunch and chime. The OR30 is Cathode biased, which means if it comes time to change power tubes, a full bias is not necessary as long as the amp is equipped with a proper matched set of EL84 tubes.
The OR30 features two 8 Ohm speaker outs and a single 16 Ohm out. The OR30 would pair excellently with Orangeâs PPC212V partial open back cabinet. If youâre really wanting to ride the lightning, look no further than the Orange PPC412 closed back cabinet.
Look to the Orange OR30 for a single channel amp that can go from clean to crush with no compromise.
