PRS CE 24 Electric Guitar, Fire Red Burst
The CE 24 represents a pivotal point in PRS history, marking the company's first production model to feature bolt-on construction. Introduced in 1988, the CE was a deliberate step toward combining PRS’s carved maple tops and sleek design language with the familiar immediacy and attack of bolt-on neck guitars.
The body combines a figured maple top with a mahogany back, a standard PRS pairing that delivers articulation up top and warmth beneath. The high-gloss nitrocellulose finish adds a durable and resonant coating without impeding the body’s natural resonance. A bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fingerboard introduce brightness and clarity, while the satin nitro feel of the Pattern Thin carve supports fast transitions and clean shifts up and down the 24-fret layout. A 10" fingerboard radius and 25" scale length provide familiar feel for both bending and rhythm work.
Pickups are PRS’s own 85/15 humbuckers, developed by Paul Reed Smith to extend frequency response without sacrificing definition. These are wired to a 3-way toggle and push/pull tone control for coil-tap functionality, offering both humbucking thickness and single-coil bite without tonal muddiness. The layout remains simple but responsive, with immediate control over six distinct tonal combinations.
The PRS patented tremolo system provides expressive pitch modulation without compromising tuning stability, supported by PRS low-mass locking tuners.
