Taylor Russo Music 65th Anniversary Custom Grand Pacific Acoustic-Electric Guitar
Sixty-five years of guitars come and go, but it's guitars like our Taylor Guitars Russo Music 65th Anniversary Custom Grand Pacific that stick around in your memory. This Custom Grand Pacific, brought together with precision and care by Taylor luthiers, assembles with a combination of unique features and tonewoods for a truly fresh look on the iconic Taylor body shape. This one-of-a-kind Grand Pacific sticks its landing to help celebrate our sixty-fifth anniversary as a company as well as the essence of the classic Taylor model.
This sixty-fifth anniversary Custom Grand Pacific sets out to capture what makes the Grand Pacific so beloved for Taylor fans over the years. With this goal, Taylor's unique assembly of materials sets out to balance familiar and fresh. The Custom Grand Pacific begins with a body made of Honduran rosewood and western red cedar. Its Honduran rosewood back and sides kicks this whole experience off as a solid sonic base off which the rest of the musical experience springs.
Western red cedar, a tonewood known for its warmth and touch sensitivity, makes a prime candidate for fingerpicking and light strumming alongside a Taylor Guitars V-Class Bracing pattern. Enhancing projection and imparting balance, the V-Class bracing, featuring Sitka spruce braces, makes for a great addition to this model. Taylor's Aged Toner stain appears across the red cedar top to infuse some welcomed aesthetic age. Topping off this body for something new yet familiar, the Honduran rosewood back features a four-piece Simons Wedge design that shapes the geometric look of the wood.
Familiarity continues on with this model with a classic Taylor mahogany neck in a Taylor Standard Carve profile. Playability, as driven by the combination of this profile shape and the model's special ebony fingerboard, is a crucial priority. This Grand Pacific's ebony fingerboard is highly variegated and exhibits a great variety of colors, adding to the overall visual sum of the guitar. A satin finish wraps the guitar's neck for a smooth touch in the fretting hand while Mother of Pearl small diamond fret inlays punctuate the multicolored ebony.
Smaller aesthetic and structural elements that bring this Custom Grand Pacific one more level up appear across this entire model. A bone nut and micarta saddle ground strings at either end of the 25.5" scale length for stability and fluidity when stringing and playing. Speaking of stability in stringing, Gotoh 510 Antique Gold tuning machines line the headstock for another great element. Onboard, L.R. Baggs Element VTC electronics bring the sweet sounds of this acoustic to the stage for a classic acoustic-electric experience. Sharp-eyed readers might notice one of this Grand Pacific's finishing touches – a rosewood truss rod cover with "Est. 1960" printed in it, referring to Russo Music's first year of business. This commemorative model travels with a Taylor Guitars Western Floral hardshell case.
With so many great acoustic guitars coming and going over the years, it’s a Taylor like this one that's hard to forget.
