The Somos Collection, a series of guitars focusing in on the tones of Mexican guitar music local to Taylor's Southern Californian roots, comes together with models like the 150ce Bajo Quinto – a ten-string acoustic-electric guitar balancing Taylor's essential designs and this new realm of Latin music.

The Taylor 150ce Bajo Quinto breaks new ground with classic Taylor design specifications. At the heart of the 150ce Bajo Quinto is an iconic Taylor cutaway dreadnought body brought together by layered sapele and torrefied spruce. Taylor's layered sapele back and sides serves as an exceptional base to match the worn-in, heat-treated tones of the torrefied spruce. Torrefaction, a process wherein tonewoods are heat-treated to bake out imperfections and impart a more lived-in tonal character right out of the case, presents a sound usually reserved for much older guitars. The 150ce Bajo Quinto's torrefied top makes for an exceptional first step forward.

Onboard, Taylor's C-Class bracing lines the torrefied spruce top. C-Class bracing, a cantilevered take on Taylor's V-Class bracing pattern, balances out the tonal profile of the guitar while enhancing projection and volume. This top and bracing pattern work in service of the Taylor Bajo Quinto's ten-string setup in playability and accommodating double-course string tension. In norteño music and other regional Mexican genres, ten-string bajo quinto guitars feature five pairs of strings tuned to A-D-G-C-F.
