Since 1976, the StingRay Special bass has been noted for its incorporation of active electronics and cutting-edge technology. This 5-string StingRay Special features a body constructed from select hardwoods, with two deep cutaways. and a single, cozy contour to allow less friction on the hip when playing.

Attached with a robust, four-bolt connection, this StingRay Special 5's neck is made from select roasted maple, specifically heat treated to remove any impurities and to improve stability. On the neck, a maple fingerboard with a radius of 11", is divided by 22 high wide stainless-steel frets, with iconic White Dot inlays sitting between them, 

At the heart of the StingRay Special 5 Bass is its powerful pickup system, anchored by the Music Man Neodymium Humbucker located at the bridge position, and its electronics, featuring a sophisticated 3-band active preamp, offering versatile tone shaping to suit a variety of preferences. Additional controls include a master volume knob, and three-way pickup selecting blade.

Music Man's StingRay Special 5 Bass is equipped with custom, lightweight Music Man tuning machines and a vintage Music Man top-loaded steel bridge with vintage nickel-plated steel saddles. This bass features a simplistic, black on black finish and comes complete with a hard case.
